3 Benefits of Social Networking For Your Business

I love social networking. I do it for business and I do it for pleasure. In my opinion almost any business can and will benefit from a social networking presence. The purpose of this article is not to tell you that you need a social networking presence- you may be very successful without it- but it shares with you three benefits that you could see if you do decide to implement social networking as part of your business marketing plan.
Connect with associates and alliance partners on a deeper level- One member of my own network shared with me this benefit. With Facebook, you can connect with a potential alliance partner on a level that you may never have been able to previously. You can exchange business cards but now, when you get home, you can search them out on Facebook and become ‘friends.’ That way you can touch base with them more regularly, even if it is only through their news feed. As you meet them offline at the next function you know each other on a deeper level so you can more quickly move through the conversation and connect on a deeper level. You do not have to waste time ‘catching up.’
Research and find out more information about your customers- Social networking can also help you find new customers. Twitter is great for this because you can set up search feeds on a variety of topics. For example, you could set up a search feed for your competitors business and keep track of what people are saying about them. If somebody expresses dissatisfaction about your competitor and their product or service you can get in touch with them in an attempt to sell them your product. There are plenty of people out there who do this quite effectively.
Build your brand and share events and articles of interest- All businesses should have a Facebook Fan Page. They are great for building your brand, sharing aspects of your personality (so your potential customers know that you are more than just the business- you are a person) and you can also share links to articles of interest to your Fans. Your Facebook Fan Page is not about sales. It is about connecting with existing and potential customers on a deeper level.
Social networking can be extremely useful for all business owners and it is something that you really need to look at for your business. I have outlined three great benefits of social networking above.
