Thanks for the great tips. From what I see, many small business owners don't consider the purpose of the event. Many just KNOW they need to do events and chalk them up to 'awareness' or some general PR purpose, rather than having a specific goal in mind. Thant's usually just a waste of resources. PR pros know that you need to achieve a return on investment and the only way that happens is to set measurable goals that will lead to SALES!
Keep the good stuff coming...

Our country was also hit hard by the Economic Recession. At least we are seeing some signs of economic recovery now. I hope that we could recover soon from this recession.

I have found journalists at small local newspapers always want local news stories, so it is easy to get free publicity if you have a good local story to tell. I have even taken a photo, put a caption under it and they have published it. The key is to make your news sound interesting and not commercial in nature. A good article!

Good ideas on event planning. Especially, make sure you are clear on the REASON for your event. Everything you do should follow this purpose. Also, follow-ups are important, especially asking your attendees for their comments or suggestions!

Hi there, 2 things:
1) I saw you started following the blog on twitter, which is good, you should go read the actual blog and give me your opinion on the various topics.

and 2) in this post you say you were a freelance journalist. Now, I'm 18, and really REALLY interested in getting into the journalist industry. I just thought I'd ask on the off chance you could help me: How did you break in? And how would you suggest I get my name out there?
